The Company realizes that paper production requires large quantities of chemicals, water and energy, as well as wood fiber, which is the main raw material used in its production. The paper production process generates a large amount of waste. Hence, the use of paper has short and long term effects on the environment, contributing to global warming and environmental damage. The Company has implemented paper-saving initiatives over the past few years by printing documents only when needed and using on both sides of the paper.
The Company’s concern on the environment is also demonstrated through various daily activities internally. Environmental care campaigns continue to be carried out in MNC Group offices throughout Indonesia such as calls on all employees use electricity efficiently, unplug when leaving the office, and use water wisely.
The Company has been using water treatment system for air conditioner/AC condensation, which generates clean water that meets the drinking water quality standards. This system is used in MNC Group’s office buildings, and has reduced the consumption of both tap and groundwater. The system was one of the innovations of the Company’s employee who became the winner of the MNC Innovation Award 2015.
MNC Group has also been implementing an environmentally friendly way of doing business by executing digital transformation across its line of business. Through its subsidiaries in the Financial Sevices sector, MNC Group has implemented digital-based applications in its business processes. The use of mobile apps has increased the efficiency level and reduced the use of paper. In the media sector, MNC Group has launched two streaming platform for its FTA TV and Pay TV(RCTI+ and Vision+). Streaming through mobile applications in general uses lower electricity compared to TV uses, which will reduce the electricity consumption hence supporting towards carbon emission reduction.
Since 2016, MNC Group through MNC Land has collaborated with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in an effort to develop Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP). This collaboration will strengthen the function of the TNGGP in the development of natural tourism in Bodogol and its surroundings as well as an effort by MNC Land to support the development of national tourism.

In addition, improvement is always carried out in order to create a conducive and pleasant work environment for employees. Occupational accident rates
The Company always makes Occupational Safety and Health and Environment (K3L) a priority. This can not be separated from the Company’s activities that might be risky. In this case, the Company is committed to reducing workplace accidents to obtain zero accident rates.
To meet the required skills and to develop employee competency, the Company conducts training for employees. The training category implemented includes basic company induction, basic skills training, certification training, functional training, leadership training, and briefing. The number of participants participating in the 2019 training was 47,110 people with the total training hours of 234,186. In addition, the Company also routinely organizes staff forum, supervisor forum, manager forum, and BOD forum that invite professional speakers from both government and private parties. In an effort to create a better work environment, the Company implements the principles of fairness, equality and non-discrimination when it comes to recruitment; and opportunities to participate in training programs and career/promotion development programs regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, race and inter-group. Remuneration is provided according to position levels, responsibilities and performance appraisal results.
MNC Group is concerned about the Occupational Health and Safety (K3) of its employees. The Company strives to create a safe and comfortable work environment to encourage optimum employee productivity. On the other hand, the Company requires that all employees adhere to its occupational health and safety policies and standard operating procedures to minimize accidents. Every employee is required to contribute to creating a clean, safe and comfortable work environment; wear protective clothing and safety gear; and not engage in activities that could endanger other employees.

To celebrate Eid al-Adha, the subsidiary donated cows and goats to the Bimantara Mosque, Jakarta and the Darussalam Mosque.
To welcome Christmas, the Company donated foodstuffs and social funds to nursing home Sasana Tresna Werdha Karya Kasih Jakarta and Roslin Orphanage, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara.

Environment program that has been performed by the Company and its subsidiaries is the “1,000 Biopores Movement”, which was held as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of MNC Group. The movement is expected to prevent water puddle and expedite rainwater absorption.
Social Community Development
Programs related to Social Community Development conducted by the Company together with its subsidiaries are as follows:
1. As part MNC Group’s 25th anniversary celebration, the Company initiated several CSR activities on social care including the following:
a) MNC’s Book Cart and Book House
The MNC’s Book Cart and Book House show the Company and its subsidiaries’ concern for information access and youth education, particularly in poor reading habit. By providing the Book Cart and Book House, which are equipped with 4,000 books, children who live near MNC office at Kebon Sirih can read educative books for free.
b) Literacy media for grade 1, 2, and 3 students of Al Haijaz Elementary School
In addition to provide educational materials, the Company provide assistance such as school bags, notebooks, and other school supplies.
c) Revitalization of bridge at Lebak Regency, Banten
Construction of MNC’s bridge at Lebak Regency, Banten was held in cooperation with Miss Indonesia Foundation and Jalinan Kasih Foundation. Poor infrastructures for those living in remote area also drew attention of the Company and its subsidiaries, which later was followed-up by building a bridge at Lebak Regency and renovating a bridge that connects Karya Jaya Village at Cimarga Sub-district and Cigoong Village at Cikulur Sub-district. The bridge connecting these two villages has been damaged for a long time and cannot no longer be used. It is hoped that building this bridge will improve the economic cycle and education which were disturbed due to lack of access between the two villages.
2. In cooperation with Obsesi, Fokus Selebriti & Mercure Hotel, held a joint breaking of fast with orphaned children. The event also featured local artists to entertain and spread the joy of caring and sharing during the holy month of Ramadhan.
3. In cooperation with Sinarmas Group, held an event to sell cooking oil at discounted prices for the residents of Kebon Sirih. At least 1,000 liters of cooking oil were sold at more affordable prices for communities living near MNC Tower.
4. During Ramadhan, the Company invited the poor and orphaned children living near MNC Tower for a joint fast-breaking meal, while fostering relations with the Kebon Sirih local community and local authority.
5. Handed over a donation to United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), a UN organ established to channel humanitarian aid to child victims of war.
6. Collaborated with the DKI Jakarta Red Cross for routine blood drives as a form of social care.
7. Helped establish a “House of Inspiration for the Precious One Hearing Impaired” by donating Rp10,000,000 in cash money. The Company hopes that the donation can help people with hearing impairment to develop their creative talents as part of the Company’s social responsibility.
8. Distributed basic necessities to people living near MNC Tower, specifically the people of RT 09 / RW 05 & RT 12, RT 14 and RT 16 / RW 06 of Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta. This activity aims to build closer relations with the local community.
9. Offered aid to victims of a fire outbreak at the Pomdam Jaya Berlan Complex in Kebon Manggis, Matraman Sub-District of East Jakarta. Some 1,233 people lost their homes to the fire.
10. Assisted communities affected by floods around DKI Jakarta, especially near the SMAN 8 public high school in Bukit Duri, South Jakarta.
The Company and its subsidiaries also carried out other programs related to Social Community Development, are as follows:
• Held Media Literacy for non-media community in Jakarta, Jambi, Palembang and Bandung
• Facilitated the early education to university students on the subject of financial analysis at Indonesia Stock Exchange and the introduction to the capital market along with the Company’s identity
• Organized small-scale seminars for communities to discuss the right strategies of investing in stocks
• Sponsored Pekan Budaya Jawa event
• In January 2014, the Company carried out social services for victims of flood in Manado
• Provide funding for MTQ Nasional in Tanah Datar
• Provide hearing aid donation for the students of school for deaf children
• Routinely donates to Bimantara Mosque which is located at MNC Plaza in Central Jakarta
• Organized the “Sahur on the road” events, walking around MNC Tower, Cikini, and to Manggarai to distribute the pre-dawn meal
• Organized the breakfasting event with orphaned children in collaboration with “MNC Berbagi”
• Held breakfasting gatherings along with local communities in the neighborhood of MNC Tower
• Donated school supplies and cash for orphaned children to celebrate the Eid Al-Fitr
• Gave Eid gifts for foster children around the Company’s transmission
• Provide Lebaran exodus programs
• Provide funding in order to commemorate Indonesia’s anniversary of independence
• Provides sacrificial animals every year for the benefit of underprivileged communities in the areas around the MNC Tower & MNC Plaza through the Bimantara Mosque
• Renovation aid for Al Hidayah Mosque in Sumedang
• Participated in MNC Group Big Family Christmas Celebration at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno
• Provides and maintains public facilities for ongoing religious activities, such as female Quran recitals by girls every Thursday and Church Prayers every Friday and Sunday at the MNC Tower Auditorium
• Provide staple food aid for the victims of landslide in Banjarnegara, Mount Sinabung disaster, Mount Kelud disaster in Jawa Timur, flood at Kampung Pulo, Jakarta, and Cabangbungin, Bekasi
• Sold inexpensive cooking oil to communities in the vicinity of the MNC Tower
In addition, the Company together with Yayasan Jalinan Kasih organized and distributed fundraising from the viewers to help natural disaster and political victim, namely:
• Mount Sinabung disaster victims
• Flash Flood victims in Jakarta and Manado
• Political victim in Gaza, Palestine
• Tsunami victims in Philippines
Workers, Occupational Health and Safety
Programs related to workers, occupational health and safety conducted by the Company together with its subsidiaries are as follows:
• In 2014, the Company has sent off 103 people, consisting of employees and their family members, for their umrah pilgrimage. Since the program was launched in 2012, the Company to date has paid for the religious pilgrimage of 308 people. Thisprogram is part of Company’s show of appreciation towards MNC Group’s outstanding employees who have performed well in the Company. Specifically for 2014, priority is given to the supervisor level above with more than two years of length of service.
• The Company has sent off 45 employees with exceptional work performance on a spiritual journey to the Holy Land of Jerusalem for a nine-day trip. Since the program was first launched in 2013, a total of 104 people have been paid for their religious pilgrimage. MNC Group organizes this activity on an annual basis as a form of appreciation to employees with proven track record. Upon returning from their spiritual journey, employees are expected to have even better work performance.
• CSR MNC Siaga-Ambulance
As a form of its concern for health and surrounding environment, the Company and its subsidiaries provide free MNC Siaga-Ambulance for residents living around the MNC Tower in Kebon Sirih. As a
prominent company, MNC is proud to participate actively in providing health service.
The Company and its subsidiaries also carried out other programs related to Workers, Occupational Health and Safety, are as follows:
• Free general treatment jointly with Suryadarma Air Force Base
• Mass circumcision in Palembang jointly with Commando District 11 Sriwijaya
• Carry out free general health and dental examination in Sumedang and Jakarta
• Educational fund aid for the foster children of Mutiara Bangsa
• Social service and free health treatment with the target of 1,000 people per day in Jabodetabek
• Provide medical assistance to Sheryl Aulia, patients with cerebral abscess
• Provide free surgery aid for patients with tumor, goiter, cataracts, harelip, hernia
• Collaborated with the DKI Jakarta Red Cross for routine blood drives as a form of social care
• Provided various training opportunities for employees, which includes: basic company induction, basic skill training, functional training, certification training, leadership training, and socialization
Responsibility to Consumers Company
Responsibility to its consumers refers to product-related obligations, such consumer health and safety, product information, facilities, consumer complaints mechanism including complaints handling, and others. Programs related to consumers that the Company and its subsidiaries have conducted are provided below:
• Provided facilities and infrastructure that is able to assist both prospective consumer and existing consumers in understanding and recognizing the products issued by Company, either through the Company or through subsidiaries’ website
• Gave adequate training to the Company’s marketing officer in order to give detailed information to both prospective consumer and existing consumers before deciding to buy the Company’s products
• Provided a consumer complaint system which are available in all business units of the Company
• Socialized and educated both prospective consumer and existing consumers on various type of product in the capital markets which could be accessed through Company
• Facilitated regular meetings with consumer to build stronger relationships with consumers, for example: Annual Investor Gathering organized by MNC Securities.
1001 Books for Children of Indonesia
MNC Investama as a business entity, believes that corporate social responsibility (CSR) should be considered, addressed and fulfilled as an inherent responsibility in daily life and activities, by the Company as an institution and management and employees as individuals. The Company believes that CSR fulfillment is a business strategy in the context of business sustainability. Similar to other multinational companies, CSR has become an integral part of the Company’s policies. Implementing social responsibility is a form of obligations fulfillment to all stakeholders as a social investment that will provide reciprocal sustainable benefits in the long term.
MNC Investama strives to spread inspiration through its CSR programs. Fulfillment of corporate social responsibility, is not enough if only done by sheer relief. There should be strong commitment to make it sustainable and purposeful activities.
CSR is important for the Company, both as institution and individual employees. In beneficial perspective, CSR program to employees is how to foster a sense of caring and sensitive to social situations experienced by the surrounding environment. Hence, employees will be more thoughtful and vigorously work as a form of gratitude for various available facilities and happiness. Meanwhile, CSR in institutional perspective is beneficial to the Company’s awareness as an integral part of all stakeholders. Therefore, all policies taken by the Company will strive to provide benefits not only to business partners and investors, but also to all people who are not directly linked to the Company’s business activities.
On November 22, 2013, the Company engaged in a CSR activity as a form of social commitment to the society, which in this particular instance is focused on the area of education and especially for elementary School students. In this CSR program, the Company’s employees are encouraged to donate secon hand books in good condition (1 book minimum per employee), and also to renovate an unused room in Mekar Sari elementary School, Pulo Mas, into a school library.
The objectives of the program are:
To assist deserving schools or other educational institutions to develop and manage a library facility in order to promote the habit of reading and to improve knowledge among students and teachers. To provide school libarary facilities for the benefit of students, which can also be used for activities that foster student creativity such as handicraft, book resume, and talent competition. The program ended up collecting more than twice the original target of 1001 books consisting of education books, exam simulation books, literary books, and books on culture and general knowledge for students in the first grade through the sixth grade.
Conducting CSR activities is important both from an institutional viewpoint and at the level of the individual employees as it fosters a sense of social responsibility in the day to-day life of the Bhakti Investama Group. Our efforts to implement this include raising employees’ awareness of various issues relating to the economy, social issues, culture and environment, with due consideration to human rights.
In 2012, the Company’s CSR activities were concentrated on environmental issues, such as the planting of mangrove trees on Pramuka Island and Tidung Island, both in the Thousand Islands, in July 2012. Meanwhile, the media-based subsidiaries also ran their own CSR activities, which covered sport, health, education, religious activities and assistance for natural disaster victims, among others.
The Company realizes that the implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) should not merely be a voluntary activity; rather, it should also be part of joint commitment to build sustainable development and create a conducive investment climate that will support an improvement in the welfare of society. This commitment is also stated in the provisions of Law No. 40 year 2007 regarding Limited Liability Companies that govern the obligation of a company to meet its social and environmental responsibilities.
The Company’s CSR activities are aimed at raising social awareness and increasing participation among the employees of the Company and of the subsidiaries to motivate them to understand and take real action to help tackle social issues.
CSR activities were carried out partly through the Bhakti Investama Peduli program. One of the activities in 2011 was a visit to the Putra Setia Orphanage in Kramat Sentiong District. This activity involved active participation and interaction between the employees and the orphans.
