PT MNC Studios International Tbk (MSIN) officially started the construction of Movieland, The Most Integrated and One-Stop Studios in MNC Lido City, Bogor Regency, West Java. This step becomes a commitment, following the Government's announcement on February 11, 2021, that MNC Lido City of PT MNC Land Tbk (KPIG) becomes a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Tourism.
"This will be good for the creative economy. Creating new entrepreneurs, becoming a tourist spot for Indonesians and even foreign visitors, creating foreign reserves, creating jobs, improving people's living standards," said MNC Group's Executive Chairman Hary Tanoesoedibjo in his speech during the cut and fill procession, which marks the start of Movieland development in Lido, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday (13/2/2021).
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Wamenparekraf), Angela Herliani Tanoesoedibjo, also attended the ceremony and inaugurated the Movieland development process, which will be designed as the first creative hub in Indonesia, and is expected to be a major step in the creative industry in Indonesia.
Movieland development covering an area of 21 hectares which will be developed as an integrated film and drama series (TV & OTT) industry center concept, and is equipped with various production facilities, such as backlots (shooting locations), sound stages (closed studios), state of the art production infrastructure, and post-production facilities equipped with world-class technology.
For the backlot, Movieland will accommodate various needs for outdoor film shooting areas, such as residential areas, urban settlements, old town nuances, and shooting locations with a rural atmosphere. To meet the needs of shooting colossal scenes, Movieland offers an open nature area (flexible backlot), including an area with Indonesian royal background.
Movieland will also be equipped with backlots for various public facilities, such as hospitals, bus stops, schools, supermarkets, and even buildings that look like airports. Other supporting facilities, including a 1,500 square meter sound stage, will be equipped with a giant green screen and a water tank, and special set facilities to support production.
Managing Director of MNC Studios International, Ella Kartika said that Movieland would be built for Indonesian and foreign filmmakers whose numbers are predicted to continue to grow. Movieland is the Most Integrated and One-Stop Studios and will be the center of the world-class film and drama series (TV & OTT) industry in Indonesia.
"We have prepared Movieland as a production location for film and drama series (TV & OTT) that integrates all stages of production, from pre-production to post-production with a controllable environment concept that will have a positive impact on the quality of the film and drama series production (TV & OTT) in Indonesia," said Ella Kartika.
