MNC Peduli Donates Children’s Books to Rebuild Community Library in Post-Flood West Sumatra
Wednesday, 30 April 2025

MNC Peduli has donated hundreds of children's books to Pustaka Nagari Bina Ilmu, a community library in Pandai Sikek village, Sepuluh Koto District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. This initiative is part of the organization’s effort to support children’s literacy in underserved areas and assist with the recovery of community facilities affected by natural disasters.
Established in 2009, the library was damaged during a flash flood in 2024 but continues to serve as an important reading and learning space for local children.
“Alhamdulillah, our library remains active, serving children who wish to read and expand their knowledge through the books we provide,” said Mas’ap Widiawan, Dt. Bandaro, the Head of Pandai Sikek village, on Friday, April 25. “We’re grateful for MNC Peduli’s contribution and hope these books will benefit our children here in Pandai Sikek.”
Indonesia continues to face challenges in children’s literacy, particularly in rural regions where access to quality books is limited. Digital distractions and language barriers often hinder the development of reading habits among young learners.
Through its Generasi Cerdas Anak Bangsa (Smart Generation of the Nation) program, MNC Peduli continues to promote literacy by distributing books, empowering local literacy advocates, and encouraging public participation.
