GTV Presents The First Indonesian Esports Star Through Esports Star Indonesia Championship

JAKARTA - The star candidates' journey with GTV Esports Star Indonesia has finally reached its peak on the night of the Esports Star Indonesia 2020 Grand Final. This lengthy process has finally presented Indonesia's first Esports Star!

Last night's Grand Final (5/12/20) was broadcasted live from GTV at Studio RCTI+ MNC Studios, Kebon Jeruk, Jakarta, one of the biggest and most sophisticated studios in Asia.

Executive Chairman of MNC Group, Hary Tanoesoedibjo, who was present at last night's broadcast, stated that MNC Group will continue to encourage the growth of esports in Indonesia, with one of the ways to do that being through this Esports Star Indonesia competition.

"Both with GTV and online platforms we are committed to promoting the growth of online games in the country. Because we know that this has now been recognized as an official sports organization, and KONI even has its own board, we can take part in guiding new players and athletes in the gaming world."

Those who passed the battle of the grand final have shown the utmost talent and deserved high appreciation. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, with the highest achievement, was given to Jodie Bun (Jbun) from Sentebang, Kalimantan. As a reward, Jbun automatically joins the professional team RRQ, one of the biggest esports in Indonesia, led by Andrian Pauline (CEO RRQ) on a 1-year contract. He also received a cash prize of IDR50 million.

Jbun's achievement was a part of his team's, Blue Rhinos, win against Red Tigers with a 2-time winning streak in the grand final round.

The winning team, Blue Rhinos, which consists of Jbun, Aville from Bandung, Aeden from Cimahi, and Bankai and Maxi from Jakarta received a cash prize of IDR250 million. Even better, Aville, whose real name is Adit Rosenda, was voted Favorite Player by the audience through text message voting and received a cash prize of IDR25 million.

Meanwhile, Red Tiger team received a cash prize of IDR100 million as a runner up.

GTV's managing director, Valencia Tanoesoedibjo, presented the prize to Blue Rhinos team and stated that GTV as a pioneer of Esports programs on Free To Air television, is ready to continue Esports Star Indonesia. "We will be continuing with Esports Star Season 2. Hopefully, this will keep going and become a positive vehicle for young people realizing their dreams," said Valencia.

Blue Rhinos's victory, coached by Coach Steven "Marsha" Kurniawan and Coach Zulkarnain "Wizzking" Zulkifli, was directly commented on by Andrian Pauline. CEO of RRQ; "Blue Rhinos team was more well prepared, was more confident as a result. They deserve to be the winner."

The Blue Rhinos team was very grateful for this achievement; "We were optimistic about winning right from the start, but we did not expect to take home both the Favorite Player and MVP prizes as well," Jbun said on stage, accompanied by his teammates after the show last night.

The battle of the grand final was full of sportsmanlike energy and great celebration as a collaboration of competitive elements and classy entertainment. Tantri Cella and Chua Kotak Band performed songs to uplift spirits, followed by an energetic performance by Wizzy, another by B-Force, and a magic show full of surprises by The Sacred Riana.

This first season of esports talent searching, the first and only of Indonesia, has fueled the passion of Indonesia's esports world which has started to grow and is predicted to develop rapidly.

This was proven when Esports Star Indonesia opened auditions on June 8th with a total of 22,214 participants. Starting from the auditions until the grand final last Saturday night, GTV has promoted esports to the Indonesian public. GTV has succeeded in becoming the first and only national television station to build the foundation for esports in Indonesia.
